Contributing to the education of translation students worldwide
When localizing videogames, we also adapt user interface, user experience, and other technological aspects.
In these one-hour sessions, we address relevant topics for the Localization field and raise awareness about different possibilities within the Translation industry, such as:
The different parts of a game;
Standards, tools, and methodology;
Aspects to consider when localizing a videogame;
Current debates (AI, #TranslatorsInTheCredits);
The relevance of context in translation and localization;
Quality Assurance Testing as an entry door to the videogaming industry;
Visual references: where to get them and what to do if you don't have any;
Language variants (is there anything like neutral Spanish, French, or Portuguese?).
The focus of each session varies according to the course syllabus. The best approach here is having the teaching team define what should be discussed with the class and the preferred format – so we can ensure it is a productive and engaging talk with newcomers.
